Commenced season by sponsoring Marist Bros. under 14’s team.

We had:

  • One under 18’s team, two under 16’s teams, two under 14’s teams, two under 12’s teams.
  • South under 18’s defeated Donnybrook 18’s in grand final.
  • Wendover 16’s defeated South 16’s in grand final.
  • Wendover 14’s defeated Centrals 14’s in grand final.
  • Our under 12’s did not reach the finals.

We were host to Scarborough 14’s, 16’s and 18’s during the season. They in turn billetted our boys for the Perth grand final, for which we hired a railway bus. Boys were also selected from all grades to play in an Institute Carnival in Perth, also the return game in Bunbury.

On Legacy football Sunday we had a large selection of boys selected to play, also on this day we sold the programmes for which Legacy donated us $20.00.
Players’ teas were held for all players during the year. All grades being present at the wind-up and presentation night, including Marist Bros., approximately 200-220 boys being present. Although this was the largest number of boys we have had together at once, they were well behaved. Thanks to the coaches and their helpers for having such good control over their teams.

Source of income during year being:-

  • Under 18’s boys levied 20c each game (lOc to club, lOc to umpires).
  • Under 16’s levied 20c each game (15c to club, 5c to umpires).
  • Under 14’s and 12’s levied 10c each game (5c to club, 5c to umpires).
  • Plus members’ fees.

Our thanks to all coaches and assistants, team managers, property men and any person who assisted in any way with the junior teams. We are also grateful to the league players who visited the games on Saturdays for their help and guidance to the boys.

Our thanks to our excellent ladies’ committee for arranging the players’ teas and help with the cool drinks and hot dogs at Hay Park each month, also their support at all the games.

The people who wash the guernseys, thank you for a difficult job well done.

Also thanks to the trophy donors. Forty-eight trophies being presented to the boys.

A successful season, and a rewarding one, as we won three grand finals from four grades. Congratulations to the teams  concerned.

The Bunbury Sports Youth Association Perpetual Trophy (donated by Bedford Park Sports Youth Association) was presented to South Bunbury Junior Football Club Council at the Junior Football Association Cabaret on 20th October. This particular award is to be presented each year to the most outstanding Junior Football Council.

Our committee sincerely thanks anyone who may have helped the Junior Council during this season. It is only through full co-operation that trophies such as these are won.
