Return to Training Protocol

South Bunbury Junior Football Club Inc

17th April 2020

Hello All Parents, Players, Sponsors & Members,
I hope your Families are all safe and well.
The South Bunbury Football Club, your club, was very excited by the news last week from the WA Football Commission confirming that community football training can resume under set conditions and protocols from Monday, May 18, 2020 in Western Australia.

This encouraging step towards the full return of community football in WA has been made possible by the easing of social distancing restrictions and group gatherings, as announced yesterday by WA Premier Mark McGowan.

Under the State Government’s COVID-19 WA Road Map, May 18 represents the date that Phase 2 conditions will be applied to WA Communities, which will allow for a return to training.

To ensure the safe return to training from May 18, the WAFC has worked as part of the AFL National Working Group, considered the AIS Framework for Community Sport and importantly, has aligned with Government to develop a series of guidelines for clubs to follow.

This includes a checklist for clubs to complete, hygiene and small group training protocols, as well as online COVID-19 infection control training for key club leaders.

On Saturday the entire SBFC Coaching group, Senior & Junior #oneclub, meet to discuss the return to training planned for this week. The SBFC is taking the State Government protocols extremely seriously with all Coaches, Presidents (Senior & Junior) & Club Committee completing online Covid-19 infection control training. The safety & Health of our playing group, Coaching staff & Volunteers is the number one priority of the SBFC. The attached “Return to training protocols” issued by the WAFC will be adhered to by the Football Club & all of the teams. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact myself.
With regards to the planned training times / dates for our teams, please refer to the attached spreadsheet. I must stress to parents that training is very much a get in & get out situation. Please drop your son or daughter off at the appropriate time and pick them up – sorry we can’t have spectators and particularly no one else on the oval other than players and coaches.
It was decided by the SBJFC Committee and the Coaching Group that players in teams Year 6 and below would not commence training at this stage due to the imposed strict training protocols. Using an old footy cliché, we will take this decision one week at a time and inform you when this is likely to change.
As a committee we have had many enquiries about registrations and transfers to SBJFC, which is very exciting and whilst we do not have a start date for football this year, we continue to encourage you to register players. To date we have not had any enquiries from parents about registration fees to be paid or already paid. We appreciate your support and understanding in this area and once we have received guidance from the SWJFL we will be in a position to discuss with you what this means about fees for the 2020 season.
I am really looking forward to seeing all those South Bunbury Junior faces running around doing what they love to do, kick and catch a footy with their South Bunbury mates.
Again, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me.

All the best,

Antony Gallagher
